November 9 at The University of Alabama Moody School of Music in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Pamela Wilensky, Junior Orchestra Conductor 

Pamela Wilensky has been a String Specialist for Memphis City/Shelby County Schools for 16 years, teaching at the elementary, middle and high school levels. She is the Fine Arts Department Chair and Director of Orchestras at Central High School in Memphis, TN. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Music Education.  She has had extensive Suzuki Teacher Training and has taught in the University of Memphis Suzuki Program since 1995 where she is also a member of the Memphis Suzuki Institute faculty. She is also an active performer in Memphis and with the Germantown and Jackson, TN Symphony Orchestras. She is a co-director of the Memphis Music Camp.  Pamela is a member of WTSBOA, the American String Teachers Association, and the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and has been the State Orchestra Chair for TNMEA. She has been associated with the Memphis Youth Symphony Program as a parent, teacher and board member since 1995. She has been a guest conductor for the Memphis City Schools All-City String Festival, Jackson Symphony Music Camp, the Quad State String Festival at Murray State University and the Austin-Peay University Honor Orchestra. 

David Upham, Senior Orchestra Conductor 

Dr. Upham is in demand as an educator and clinician at festivals across the country. In addition to his work at the Summer Youth Music School at UNH, he also conducts at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy, and works occasionally at the Vivace Chamber Players festival in Seattle. He had a long tenure with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras, serving as conductor or assistant with each of the organization’s five orchestras. Dr. Upham also had a successful 10-year career as a public school music educator, leading orchestral programs in Kent and Bellevue, WA. In his position at Newport High School, he developed a thriving program with 120 string students across 3 orchestras, who consistently won top awards at various music festivals throughout the region.

Dr. Upham has degrees from Luther College (Decorah, Iowa), the University of Northern Colorado, and received his DMA in conducting from the University of Washington.  His photograph is provided by
